Styled Shoot at Mill Barns
Blimey - I had a heck of a day yesterday....in the very best of ways :D
I was lucky enough to go and shoot at the new Mill Barns wedding venue in Alveley, Shropshire with a complete dream team of superb wedding suppliers and little ol' me with my cameras. Having planned to do a 'styled shoot' for a little while, we had banded together as a little collective of wedding industry experts and found our wonderful location.
So yesterday we rocked up, made-up, pinned-up, dressed-up and explored this incredible new venue like a bunch of excited kids...
Make up artist Michelle of Michelle G and Valerie of The Big Hair Day were in charge of faces and hair doings (because they are so bloody good at it) with the bonus addition of brilliant Gaby who not only stood in as one of our trio of beautiful models, but stepped up to the plate for a little light MUA duties (because that's what she really does, when I'm not making her stand around pretending to be a model)
Venue styling in a vintage elegant boho style was down to the amazing Nadia of JamJar weddings and events. Old china, gauzy linens, soft foliage and candelabras...absolutely gorgeous.
The incredible cake was by Sian of Cakes by Sian - who produced this beauty after I sent her some random pics off the internet of cakes I quite like (which is most cakes tbf) and zero brief of what we wanted really. Talk about nailing it like a boss! I can also confirm that it tastes every bit as good as it looks (perks of the job).
Mega-clever Louise of Lilly Dilly's in Bewdley made us some amazing bespoke accessories from hairpieces to ties, pocket squares, cufflinks and buttonholes, perfectly setting off those beautiful gowns and suits from The Dressing Rooms...
Our gorgeous winter florals were from Lydia at Floral Roundabout in Worcester, with lots of eucalyptus foliage (because I'm obsessed with the stuff) and a statement bouquet which made us all go 'ooooooooo'!
Paul, Molly, Rose and Gabrielle were our superb models, braving the late November cold whilst being very patient with a photographer much more used to dealing with nervous brides and grooms who prefer to run away from the nearest camera!
Ace videographer Tom of Patch Pictures was there too, for those clever moving picture thingies (be kind Tom) He has to be nice to me, because I'll be shooting HIS wedding at Mill Barns next summer (ha!)
I don't even know where to start on the venue. Having just had its first wedding summer season, and only completed earlier this year, this purpose built wedding venue has every-blood-thing. Industrial oof, dramatic structure, tons of space like you wouldn't believe, it was so clearly a labour of love and shows a real understanding of how weddings work (honestly, as a photographer, this stuff really does show).
A HUGE thank you to Rebecca and The Dressing Rooms Bridal and TDR Menswear who were incredibly generous with their time and in letting us loose with these amazing dresses and suits!
This is my sneak peek of randoms :)
